Black Hoverfly

A squat black female hoverfly, probably Pipiza sp., possibly Pipiza noctua (Diptera: Syrphidae) based on info here and here.  Tends to stand with its wings partly open, instead of straight back over the abdomen.

Photos taken in Whiteknights Park, Reading University grounds, Reading, UK, on 2010-05-12.
