Ichneumon Wasp

From a couple of summers ago: a female Ichneumon wasp (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) injecting an egg into the stem of a knapweed plant (Centaurea sp), presumably onto some host larva hiding there.

Photos taken in the Wilderness, Whiteknights Park, Reading, UK, on 2012-07-28.
