Ovipositing Hoverfly

A female Eristalis petinax (Diptera: Syrphidae).  Just a few seconds before it had dropped the yellow 'egg' from the rear end of its abdomen; dropped not laid: it seemed only by luck that the 'egg' stayed on the leaf.
