Tephritid Fly

A female Urophora quadrifasciata (Diptera: Tephritidae) on a knapweed seed-head (Centaurea sp).  These flies are really quite small: I probably wouldn't notice them if it wasn't for the bold markings on the wings.

Photos taken in Whiteknights Park, Reading, Uk, on 2013-08-03.
