Muscid Fly

A male Phaonia subventa (Diptera: Muscidae).  Identification confirmed by Stephane Lebrun here at Diptera.info.  See this post by Joke van Erkelans at Diptera.info for how to distinguish P. subventa from the similar-looking P. rufiventris and P. bitincta.

Photos taken Whiteknights Park, Reading University grounds, Reading, UK, on 2012-03-21.
