Grey and White Fungus

Kretzschmaria deusta (= Ustulina deusta) growing on a decaying tree stump. This seems to be the only species of fungus that is thriving at the moment, all the others having been either suppressed by a couple of recent -9C nights or else nibbled by squirrels.

Photo taken in the Wilderness, Whiteknights Park, Reading University grounds, Reading, UK, on 2012-02-28.
