Moss

A moss that I haven't identified growing on an old tree stump.  The water droplets on the stalks are overnight dew. The black sporophytes (lower centre) appear to turn brown (upper centre) before bursting open (see top left) and scattering their spores.

Photo taken in Whiteknights Park, Reading University grounds, Reading, UK, on 2010-03-23.
