Tachinid Fly

Tachina fera (Diptera: Tachinidae).  With their repulsive looks and their big black spines, Tachinid flies are the orcs of the insect world.

Photo taken in Whiteknights Park, Reading University grounds, Reading, UK, on 2009-09-22.
